North Star: 700 Builders, Inspiring the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

On January 29th, we had the privilege of co-organizing the second edition of North Star, and the outcome exceeded every expectation.

More than 700 people joined us in the room, including over 400 founders and 200 students, all gathered around a shared objective: learning from experienced operators, exchanging openly, and strengthening Canada’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

At Amiral Ventures, we believe founders are the true drivers of innovation and long-term prosperity. North Star was designed with exactly that in mind: create a high-signal, founder-centric event where real journeys, hard lessons, and practical insights are shared without filters.

Built for Founders, By the Ecosystem

North Star is not a generic tech conference. It’s a curated gathering focused on entrepreneurial reality, the wins, the setbacks, the pivots, and the discipline required to build enduring companies.

The program brought together exceptional operators and leaders who spoke candidly about their paths, not just outcomes, but decisions, mistakes, and turning points. The level of openness on stage translated directly into the quality of conversations off stage.

The energy throughout the day was unmistakable. Founders stayed, connected, debated, and followed up. Students engaged directly with role models. Experienced builders shared context with first-time entrepreneurs. That density of meaningful interaction is exactly what we aim to create.

Strong Community Response

The feedback from attendees, speakers, and partners has been overwhelmingly positive. Many described North Star as one of the most useful and authentic founder gatherings of the year.

The event also generated strong external visibility, including coverage in BetaKit, helping extend the reach of the conversations beyond the room and into the broader ecosystem.

None of this happens without aligned partners and collaborators who believe, like we do, that supporting entrepreneurs is one of the highest-leverage investments we can make as a community.

Why Amiral Co-Organizes North Star

Our involvement in North Star is not marketing. It’s mission-aligned.

Amiral Ventures was built around a simple conviction: backing founders goes beyond writing checks. It includes building platforms, communities, and environments where entrepreneurs can learn faster, connect better, and think bigger.

North Star is one of those platforms.

If we can help inspire more people to build, give founders access to honest operator knowledge, and strengthen the support network around them, then we are doing our job.

We’re Just Getting Started

Our mission with North Star remains clear: inspire entrepreneurs and equip the next generation of builders.

We’re grateful to every founder, student, speaker, partner, and volunteer who made this edition possible and we’re already at work on what comes next.

The bar is higher now. That’s exactly where it should be.
